On Balin’s birthday, January 12, 2026, we will officially launch the Balin Scott Miller Foundation.

Mission Statement
Inspired by the life of the late Balin Scott Miller, the Balin Scott Miller Foundation provides grants for essential climbing gear to children, teens, and young adults. Through our dedicated funds, we honor Balin’s passion for climbing and outdoor adventure—and his belief that every young person with the desire to climb should have the opportunity.

“All the grief and sadness I carry—I can’t just sit with it. I have to turn it into something positive, something good. I’ve shed thousands of tears, and maybe those tears will be transformed into grants, into opportunities, into helping someone else afford their dreams.”

On Balin’s birthday, we will travel to Canmore—a place he loved deeply. He jokingly called the Canmore Safeway parking lot his second home. In the dead of winter, Balin would park his car there and sleep in it. To him, comfort was secondary to passion, and adventure always came first.

So on his birthday, we will glitter our cheeks and wrap ourselves in hues of orange, and together we will remember this incredible athlete and beautiful soul
